with a large no. of Muslim populations, Eid-e-Milad is observed as a public holiday to mark Prophet's birth anniversary.
What is the importance of Eid e Milad?
According to historical texts, Mohammad Saheb
was born in Saudi Arabia in 570 AD. Most Islamic scholars believe that Mohammed
was born on the 12th day of the third month of the Islamic calendar. During his
lifetime, Muhammad Sahib established the religion of Islam, which was dedicated
to the worship of Allah. After the death of Prophet Mohammad Sahab in 632, many
Muslims started celebrating his life and his teachings with various informal
celebrations.
How Eid e Milad un Nabi is celebrated?
Eid-e-Milad
is also known as Maulid or Mawlid since 'naat' and hymns are sing in praise of
the Prophet. The Devotees believe listening to the recitation leads one to the
worldly and heavenly rewards.
However,
The Sunni and Shia sects have a different take on the ways of marking
Eid-e-Milad. The Shia community Muslims believes that on Eid-e-Milad Prophet
Muhammad chooses Hazrat Ali as his successor. The Sunni community holds prayers
throughout the month. They do not practice mourning on this day.

India, it is a special day for Muslim people to offer namaaz and take part in
other ritualistic customs. Muslim devotees in Jammu and Kashmir, visit the
